A Small Story: sparking the realization of a dream
“Can I take this mommy?”
The author was home with her one and a half year old daughter when her daughter spotted a tiny booklet on her mom’s book shelf and picked it up. The author had forgotten about the booklet. It was from the video, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. It had just sat there since it was purchased and the author imaged her daughter was drawn to it because of it’s cuteness.
It was the day after sharing the newly written story, Kiki and the Pink Dragon, with a small group for the first time. Feeling high from the experience, the author was in her head imagining that she could continue to share it with a wider audience. She sat on the couch with her daughter who turned to her in a sweet voice and said, “Read this to me mommy.”
The author looked at her daughter, shrugged and opened the booklet to a random page and read, “Inherent in every desire are the mechanisms for it’s success.” She was struck by the message, handed the booklet back to her daughter and was off in her head again. “Maybe it it’s not only possible for me to share the story but maybe I am actually supported in doing it,” she thought.
“Read it again mommy.” The words pulled her out of her mind and back to the present moment. She picked up the booklet, opened it up and landed on the SAME page: “Inherent in every desire are the mechanisms for it’s success.”
The author looked at her daughter and with big knowing eyes her one and a half year old nodded.
“Who is this child, she wondered!” The message was clear and her daughter the messenger, regardless of how aware she was of the message. The author accepted it: “Life is supporting me in my desire to share this story.”
The author’s will and desire to publish Kiki and the Pink Dragon took some detours along the way but once she decided she would publish it in paperback, without a doubt, she did it.
